Whether you need to secure an unsightly bank, create space for a pool
n your home, extend land for building extension or pathway, or effectively
manage storm water, all installations are tailored to suit your requirements
and pocket. Our teams of design consultants offer personal service from
introduction to completion that includes engineering and submission
of engineer's drawings to local municipalities when required.
Eco-Max retaining wall blocks are manufactured
from quality concrete and are SABS tested to assure quality and strength.
The "D" shape design enables the block to form steps where
required, enhancing the function of this single block system. Accredited
artisans who have been trained in all aspects of dry stack retaining
blocks carry out the installations of these systems.

SA Retaining Systems consulting engineers have used information
and histories from case studies in Europe, USA and South Africa to compile
a comprehensive design manual to ensure a safe, effective and economic
earth retaining system. Special focus on drainage requirements, hydrostatic
pressure relief, ground reinforcing and soil type loading have been
the foundation of the design criteria.
Eco-Max Retaining Systems are flexible
geo-fabric reinforced, concrete block faced, segmental retaining walls.
They are ecologically friendly, being constructed of components derived
from abundantly available natural materials and reinforced with inert
geo-synthetic cloth, which resists environmental degradation throughout
its design life.
An Eco-Max design criterion takes into account the
following:
Soil Type: Both of backfill and in-situ
retained soils (clay, sand or silt)
Drainage: Coarse-grained sand is used
as drainage fill to intercept ground water and thereby minimises the
build up of hydrostatic pressure or seepage forces. Walls are designed
for moist conditions. Drainage fill is isolated by suitable geo-fabric
to avoid contamination of the drainage-fill.
Foundation/Levelling Pads of gravel or
concrete are designed so as not to exceed allowable ground pressures.
The type of foundation is determined by the consistency of the sub-grade.
